David Claerbout began his career experimenting with video after his art studies in Antwerp and Amsterdam. The mixture of photography and video blending into a form of expression combining characteristics of both media, the utilization and digital processing of historic photographs and the approach to time are important aspects of his visual creation.
“Sunrise” is a work in which contemporary architecture plays a decisive role and in which we discern time and again a perceptible discrepancy between the individual and his environment.
