Since the beginning of the 90s, and his participation in Documenta 11 (2002) in Kassel and the Venice Biennale (2005 and 2009), Pascale Tayou Marthine gained international fame. His artwork is characterized by variability in the media and themes that have as a starting point the artist himself as a person.
His works are constructions of social, cultural and political nature; as such they are deliberately mobile, heterogeneous and elusive of the preset patterns. Objects, sculptures, installations, drawings and videos produced by Tayou have in common the reflection on an individual who travels the world and explores the problems of the global village. It is in this context that Tayou reconcile their African origin and related expectations. Falling House presents the image of a new world, hanging in reverse, a form of carnival where the poor became rich, where Western Culture.
