Peter de Cupere takes advantage of the subjective and associational odor’s effects in combination with visual images to generate a kind of meta-sensory experience that transcends the mere sight or smell. The visual artist de Cupere paints with odors, produces olfactory objects, sculptures and paintings with soap, creates live performances and videos, makes three-dimensional drawings and builds poetic fragrant installations. Peter de Cupere has produced an impressive series of works and has done so in a relatively short period of time. Like other artists of his generation, he has adopted a new attitude to the relationship between art and science.
