Edith Dekyndt uses the context of the exhibition as a laboratory in the traditional scientific sense of the word, to expose a dense series of her “experiments” which venture into the land that lies between the sculptural practices and performance. Most of her studies involve the processing and testing of different types of materials.
During the experiment, each substance is subjected to a process: some absorb, others are melted, frozen, dried or soaked, while others decompose. Her method addresses a variety of hypotheses about life and death, the delicate balance between man and all living beings, as well as the presumption of the artwork in progress.
